On Thursday, November 16, 2023 your Sir Michael Fitzgerald Knights of Columbus Council #5221 donated winter coats for 170 very needy children at the Red Mountain School District on the Navajo Nation near the Four Corners Area.
This was accomplished through the support of the council and its fundraising efforts, by a generous donation of $500.00 from St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Casa Grande- courtesy of Fr. Ariel Lustan, and especially through the leadership of Coats for Kids Project Director/Chancellor Peter Breer.
The council was represented by Grand Knight Gerry Goldsmith, Past Grand Knight Chuck Goldsmith, District Deputy/Past Grand Knight Deacon Ernie Trujillo, and Lady Knights Liz Trujillo and Janeane Candelaria.
What perfect timing as it was a week before Thanksgiving. It brought to mind the verse from the Gospel of St. Matthew: “Naked and you clothed me...” Mt. 25:36
