It is the start of a new Fraternal Year for us as Knights of Columbus. Even with the recent health concerns that plaque our society, we as Knights have always been dedicated to the development of strong and healthy families. Our Family of the Month Program not only supports our mission but brings to light the most important things in life, “Our faith, our family and our friends.” Most of us have a hard time explaining why. Just why are our families so important to us?
Here is your opportunity to choose the most deserving parish family for this honor. Some of the factors to be considered when making your selection are:
Is the family tight-knit? Does the family spend quality time together?
Does the family attend weekly mass together? Does the family pray together outside of Mass?
Has the family made significant contributions to the parish and church community?
Does the family serve as a model of Catholic family values? The Arizona State Council has further enhanced this program presenting to the Family of the Month for Arizona an award recognizing their contributions to the Catholic Faith, their Parish and their Community. Remember, this does not have to be a Knight of Columbus Family. You should consider all Parish families when making your selection. As you complete Form 10668 – Family of the Month Entry Form, email a copy to:fraternalmission@kofc.org and please cc: hotrodtiki@aol.com . Remember the due date to Supreme is the 15th of each month for the previous month’s entry. When I receive your council’s selection, I will review those and notify the council of the State winner by the end of each month. The strategy behind this goal is to create a more welcoming attitude towards others in our parishes so that people feel at home; next, to create an attitude of sharing faith and to develop greater skills to do this; then, to undertake activities to invite others to know the Catholic people better.
