Keep Christ in Christmas

KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS (KCIC) PROGRAMS

 Brother Knights,

Time is running out to promote the true spirit of Christmas in our homes, schools, parishes and communities.  Councils can evangelize society through their faithful acts, celebrations and a variety of activities.  The Faith In Action (FAI) Family KCIC Programs include Christmas cards and products, the Poster Contest, Journey to the Inn, and more.

The cards and associated Christmas products such as magnets, pins, and posters are purchased by the council and are then sold to fellow Knights, parishioners, family, and friends.  This year these cards and products will have enhanced meaning with the possibility that we may not be able to be with those we love on Christmas.  Although it can be used as a fundraiser, this program it is primarily intended to evangelize by making the true spirit of Christmas available to all and providing visibility for your council and its good works.

Some councils are returning to live council meetings where Christmas cards can be sold and sales may now be allowed after masses for parishioners.  An option is to email the attachments to council members with an ad and the link to the State Council website in the church bulletin (and electronic bulletin if available) for parishioners.  This process would enhance sales and lead parishioners to the State Council website where they would learn more about the Knights of Columbus for possible recruitment.  Orders would be submitted by email or through the mail with payment by a specific deadline.    The council would then submit one comprehensive order which is typically delivered in less than 10 days.  The products could be picked up after masses or delivered directly to their homes.  Therein is an opportunity for ‘Leave No Neighbor Behind’ where the Knights could ask how they are doing and offer assistance and prayer.  As an example, Council 12708 at St. Simon & Jude placed their KCIC information on the parish Flocknote system which makes it visible to council members and parishioners.  To see what they did, go to https://www.ssjknights.com/christmascards

The following link leads to the Knights of Columbus Faith In Action Family programs for information and forms for other KCIC programs such as the Poster Contest, Journey to the Inn and more can be obtained:

The Poster Contest enables children of different age groups to communicate their artistic vision of Christmas.  The contest can be held through a school, RE classes, or open to the children of the parish in general with submittal of the entries through the council.  The council selects the winners for each age group and forwards them to me where they will be viewed and voted on by the State Council members at the mid-year meeting.  The first, second, and third place posters by group at the state level will then be sent to Supreme for nation-wide judgment and recognition.  The posters need to be received by me no later than December 29, 2020.

The Journey to the Inn is enacted by children in the spirit of Christmas and coordinated by the councils.  There are additional challenges to participation this year.  The ability to perform this program will be determined by the pastor at that time.

Please remember to get credit for participating in these Faith in Action programs.  My contact information is below if you have any questions or want to place an order.
